CLOVIS - It wasn't until 5:30 a.m. on Saturday that Bishop Montgomery distance runner Danielle Shanahan realized the magnitude of what she was taking on at the CIF state track finals.

"I just randomly woke up because I was so excited, but then I couldn't go back asleep," Shanahan said.

As it turned out, Shanahan was living the dream on Saturday.

Shanahan claimed a pair of fourth-place medals at the CIF state track and field championships at Buchanan High, ending her high school career in a resounding fashion.
