CLOVIS -- Khalfani Muhammad entered his final high school track and field season with the lofty goals of defending not only his state titles in the 100 and 200 meters, but helping Notre Dame's 4 x 100 relay capture back-to-back championships as well. North Hollywood's Sike Azu Irondi was just hoping to gain some notoriety, and like Muhammad, remain in shape for football. Both sprinters advanced to the finals in their individual events Friday at the state prelims at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium, with Muhammad also keeping alive Notre Dame's bid to repeat in the 4 x 100 relay. Muhammad led all qualifiers in the 100 and 200, clocking 10.40 and 20.94 seconds, in addition to helping the Knights relay advance with the eighth-fastest relay time of 41.94.
