Of the twenty Long Beach competitors/relay teams that entered Friday night’s CIF State Track & Field Prelims, all but three of them advanced to Saturday’s finals (with Wilson’s Kaelin Davis in the high jump, Millikan’s Destiny Talalemotu in the discus, and Poly’s Ratanya Washington in the 400) falling short of Saturday.

That leaves Long Beach with a healthy contingent, and still five schools represented with Jordan, Lakewood, Millikan, Poly and Wilson all sending contributors out. Poly’s 4x100 relay team and Ariana Washington in the 100 and 200 could put out impressive times on Saturday, as could the Wilson boys’ 4x400 team, which set a school record on Friday.
