Aja Johnson, a sophomore at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame High in California, won the girls shot put title with a sixth-round mark of 44-0.75 (13.43m) at the CIF State Championships at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis. Johnson also finished fourth in the discus throw final with a 154-3 (47.01m) effort. Johnson became the first female athlete in the program to secure a state championship since Vaiva Puodziunas won the wheelchair shot put title in 2019.
