There were 24 individuals who captured state titles and two schools that swept the relays, producing three national leaders and one state meet record, all of which are among a group of 28 nominees for DyeStatCAL Performance of the Week. Please vote for five.

 

Pamela Amaechi, Abraham Lincoln: Captured girls discus title with a throw of 164-1, in addition to placing third in the shot put with a mark of 45-1.5

Joseph Anderson, Upland: Secured boys 110 hurdles championship in U.S. No. 5 13.59, equal to No. 8 in state history

Celera Barnes, St. Bonaventure: Won her first state title in 200 in 23.25, along with placing second in 100 in 11.47

Rachel Baxter, Anaheim Canyon: Set state meet record by clearing 14-2 in pole vault, eclipsing 14-1 mark by Castilleja's Tori Anthony in 2007

Alyssa Brewer, California: Ran U.S. No. 10 2:06.86 to prevail in girls 800, the second-fastest time by a sophomore in the country

T.J. Brock, Chaminade: Defended his 100-meter dash title in 10.43, his second year in a row under 10.5 in the finals

Elena Bruckner, San Jose Valley Christian: Repeated as shot put champion with a mark of 49-5.75, along with taking second in the discus with a throw of 160-9

Koty Burton, La Quinta: Ran U.S. No. 3 36.34 in the boys 300 hurdles, posting the No. 11 time in state history

Darius Carbin, Mt. Pleasant: Cleared 7 feet in the high jump without any misses along the way to edge Alemany's Earnest Sears and Trabuco Hills' Sean Lee for championship

Isaac Cortes, Great Oak: Became first male athlete since 1998 to double in 800 and 1600, clocking 1:50.75 and 4:04.62 to help Wolfpack secure second place in team competition

Tara Davis, Agoura: Won 100 hurdles in U.S. No. 7 13.38, equal to No. 11 in state history, then leaped 41-5.5 to prevail in triple jump, along with a second-place finish in long jump at 20-4 to secure second place overall in team competition

Rhesa Foster, Clovis North: Extended Central Section's streak of crowning a female champion to 16 straight years by leaping 20-7.5 in long jump

Amanda Gehrich, Tesoro: Repeated as girls 1600 champion in 4:45.51, in addition to finishing sixth in the 3200 in 10:30.42

Jett Gordon, Marina: Cleared 16-8 to win boys pole vault title after placing second last season

Isaiah Holmes, Oakmont: Prevailed in long jump with 25-5, in addition to placing fifth in triple jump at 48-0.75 and tying for fifth in high jump by clearing 6-8 to place fourth in team competition

Michael Norman, Vista Murrieta: Repeated as champion in 200 in 20.42 and 400 in 45.77, along with contributing to victories in 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays, becoming first athlete since Long Beach Poly's Bryshon Nellum in 2007 to earn those four gold medals

Fiona O’Keeffe, Davis Senior: Won girls 3200 championship in 10:12.02, giving her three individual state titles, including cross country

Bronson Osborn, Esperanza: Became first male athlete to sweep shot put and discus throw titles since 2012, producing marks of 69-10.75 and 200-10

Morrell Osling, Antelope Valley: Became the Antelopes' first state champion in triple jump with leap of 48-9.25, securing the program's first title since 2005

Cassidy Palka, Oaks Christian: Became Lions' first individual girls state champion by clearing lifetime-best 5-9 in high jump in a sudden-death jumpoff with Academy of Academic Excellence's Hannah Hanson

Kaelin Roberts, Carson: After missing last year with injuries, Roberts returned to capture second 400 title in national-leading 52.28, along with taking runner-up in 200 in 23.40, as well as running on victorious 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays

Cooper Teare, St. Joseph Notre Dame: Captured boys 3200 title in closest finish in finals history, edging Great Oak's Cole Spencer by an 8:51.845 to 8:51.847 margin

Lauren Rain Williams, Oaks Christian: Won her first state title in 100-meter dash in 11.39, helping Lions secure third place team finish

Jurnee Woodward, Vacaville: Ran 40.62 in 300 hurdles for No. 8 in state history and U.S. No. 10 all-time, along with placing third in 100 hurdles in 13.66.

Carson girls 4 x 100 relay: Kenyla Miles, Autumn Wright, Kennedi Atkins and Kaelin Roberts ran a national-leading 45.06, No. 8 in state history

Carson girls 4 x 400 relay: Kenyla Miles, Autumn Wright, Saundria Martin and Kaelin Roberts clocked U.S. No. 8 3:42.80 to secure first team championship

Vista Murrieta boys 4 x 100 relay: Michael Norman, Antonio Mitchell, Cole Dubots and Jordan Testerman ran U.S. No. 2 40.32, No. 4 in state history

Vista Murrieta boys 4 x 400 relay: Ricky Adams, Paris Samaniego, Antonio Mitchell and Michael Norman clocked 3:14.97 to punctuate second straight team championship
