When he moved out to Lodi almost a decade ago, Fred Marsaw wanted to build his grandchildren a lap pool on his 10-acre plot of land.

His granddaughter would eventually become a three-time CIF State Track and Field Championships participant in high school, but before then, Jannell Hadnot was also a force in the water.
